HOW TO ACHIEVE YOGA SKIN WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT

Finally, we can pack away the contouring kits because fresh, healthy skin is officially in! Over the last year, and living through a worldwide pandemic, people have started prioritizing their health over aesthetics. And the same goes for our skin, with the focus shifting towards skincare and away from complicated makeup looks in 2020. It also makes sense as to why a trending makeup finish has taken the name of a popular wellness practice, say ‘hello’ to yoga skin!

What is yoga skin?

Despite the name, yoga skin is not a skincare routine, or what you look like post-workout! It is actually a ‘beauty’ look that has been making waves on social media over the last couple of years. It was first coined in the UK in 2019 by a makeup artist wanting to recreate a lit-from-within glow using cosmetics. The result? Skin that looks healthy, hydrated, and ever-so-slightly sweaty in the *best* possible way! 

 

How to do it

In order to do a yoga skin makeup look, you’ll need to do some ingredient cocktailing. This is when you combine ingredients to achieve a specific finish. In this case, mix together three or four pumps of liquid foundation, one drop of facial oil, and a drop of liquid highlighter.

Once you have your mixture it’s time to apply it. But step away from the sponges and brushes – yoga skin is best achieved when you use your (clean and sanitary) hands! This not only helps it to melt into the skin, but the massaging motions also help to boost circulation for a natural flush. Keep the look light and dewy by adding concealer sparingly and only where necessary. Finish it off with a liquid or cream blush and a spritz of facial mist.
